Carnegie Arts and Visitor Centre
Description
The Carnegie Library, located at 28 Division Street South, Kingsville, is a single-storey building in the Art Deco style, which was built in 1914 and designated in 1988. It was renovated in 2011 with a sympathetic addition that respects the original design. The adjoining treed parkland is also protected by heritage designation.
The Carnegie Library closed in 2010 and reopened in 2012 as the Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre. It serves as a visitor centre, art gallery, and office of the Kingsville Business Improvement Area.
Home to the Arts Society of Kingsville (ASK), the gallery showcases artwork by artists and artisans and offers events and workshops. ASK is a nonprofit organization whose mandate is to enrich, culitivate and promote artists and artisans through exhibiting, advocating and education.
The Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre offers visitor information, including a digital kiosk to learn about surrounding area businesses and attractions.
