Kingsville Heritage Walking Tour
Description
A self-guided walking tour of Kingsville's designated properties.
Designation is a way to protect a home which has either historical or architectural characteristics that make it unique. Whether it be roof-lines, placement of windows or front doors, the features of an older home reflect a story of the past. The craftsmanship of builders of the past is often inspiration to today’s builders who openly admire the skill and talent of their predecessors.
Through designation of homes, we pass on to future generations an awareness of life in different periods of times and a pride and respect for our town and its history. A heritage property tax relief program is available to assist owners of designated properties. The program can help in the added costs that can be incurred in maintenance and preservation. The protection of our past is protection of our future.
The Town of Kingsville is committed to preserving its heritage. The Kingsville Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee was formed in 2004 by Kingsville Town Council to promote and protect built heritage in the municipality. The committee fulfills these tasks by providing an inventory of built heritage, recommending properties for designation and performing public outreach. Much of Kingsville’s attraction stems from its unique collection of historic properties, visible reminders of Kingsville’s rich and storied past.
